Deferring the doughboy voice

For my fourth Assignment for my final project I chose to do an Audio Assignment worth 4 stars, totaling 15 stars. The assignment instructions were to take an existing piece of audio and use audio tools (I used Audacity) to change the sound.  The original audio I used was from a 2012 commercial of toaster strudels.

In 2012 Pillsbury put out a commercial to promote their famed breakfast item, the Toaster Strudel.  The Toaster Strudel was a breakfast item that was made of a glossed a wheat that was sugary as ever, and on top of that had a frosting that you could swizzle on top of the pastry.  The food was delicious, but wasn’t necessarily the best thing for you.  To promote their new and improved item they launched a series of commercials that included the Pillsbury Doughboy.

I created this in Audacity, by firstly opening a new project.

I then used a YouTube to MP3 converter to change the Pillsbury commercial on Youtube from an MP4 to an MP3.

I then used the speed changer tool to fasten the commercial by %50

Good morning people of my village!!

Star: 2 1/2 stars

For this assignment we had to greet the people of our “village” with a good morning expression.  I chose to keep it calm and simple.  I chose this, because I don’t see a person being too excited about saying good morning on a loud speaker every day.  This would become quite repetitive and boring. This does remind me of when you are in grade school, and every morning they would turn the TV’s on, and have students do a good morning segment along with announcements for the day.  They were always excited to be on TV (as any kid would be), but they knew that everyone in the school would be watching.  This I feel would be the opposite in a town where you don’t have to be energetic, because I doubt half the people would be listening anyways…

  • Firstly, started a blank file on Audacity, and instead of importing an audio file, all I had to do was click the red button to record myself.

  • I then had to edit the audio to delete any long pauses I caused

  • Final step was to export audio into an mp3 file

Not my sandwich!!!

Star: 2 1/2 stars

Back when Friends was the best show on TV (and still playing) I was pretty young, and loved to watch the show with my parents.  Of course my parents made me cover my eyes when the intimate scenes would happen.  Ross was my 2nd favorite character besides Joey.  This was one of my favorite scenes of the show all time, and my family and I still use the sandwich joke to this day.

Ross being a kid over his coworkers eating his thanksgiving day leftover sandwich

  • Secondly, I imported the now mp3 audio to my Audacity

  • Finally, I highlighted the parts that weren’t necessary to the scene, and deleted them.

Redbone gets Redone

Star: 4 stars

One of my favorite songs out at this time is Redbone by Childish Gambino.  The song has many distinct characteristics about it, such as the fading in and out of his voice, and the strong instrumentals in the background.  As soon as I saw the description for this assignment I knew that I would have to give it a try.  I found myself having alot of fun with this assignment, but it also wasn’t the easiest to complete. To change up the unique song I added some additional echo effects to give the long pauses more filling. Additionally, I changed the bass and tempo to some parts of the chorus, and long versus.

  • Imported the song into Audaciity

  • Added effects to the song, such as echo, fade in, fade out, compressor, and bass and treble.

Sounds Effects Story: Bells are ringinn

Star: 3 1/2 stars

My typical Sunday’s are spent praying to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I could of done the typical sound effects of me getting up, and brushing my teeth, showering, but that is exactly what you said not to do.  I went with a different flip of my Sunday mornings.  The mornings begin with me waking up around 11am, doing my normal morning routines, then getting straight into the car without eating.  It is usually just me and my mom, because my dad is to lazy to go, and my brother goes to a different church.  The effects story shows off use getting into the car, hearing the church bells (meaning 12 o’clock mass),  Catholic singing, and then driving back home.  Normally, we go and get food after Mass, but I couldn’t find any quality eating effects…
